The English Proficiency Index 2012 - EPI (Index
of English language proficiency worldwide)
located Peru in the group of countries with low
domain (Low Proficiency) in English, being among
countries like Vietnam, Turkey, Costa Rica and
Morocco. Also, the Educational Testing Service -
ETS (2013) reports that the average score of
peruvians who took the international TOEFL in
2012 is 86 points, which is not competitive when
applying to top universities in the world (it is
required at least 100 points).

6Criteria for the selection of the scholars
- To have the academic or university degree or the
graduate certificate issued by a public or
private peruvian university. - Have done placement test in the eligible
educational institution that determines the basic
level of english. - To have up to 30 years old at the time of
application. - Be in poverty or extreme poverty according to the
official report of Household Targeting System
SISFOH (Sistema de Focalización de Hogares) and
sent promptly to PRONABEC.

8Scholarship Description
- The scholarship will be awarded for a period of
18 months. - It will have an international certification level
C1 (Advanced) according to the European Common
Framework of Reference for Languages. - It will include support to ensure the permanence
and completion of studies. - It will be linked to institutions, international
organizations and institutions for possible
access to international postgraduates.

Asociación Cultural Peruano Británica). - Peruvian Norteamerican Cultural Institute
(Instituto Cultural Peruano Norteamericano). - San Ignacio de Loyola Private University
(Universidad Privada San Ignacio de Loyola). - Same as with Pronabec will sign the appropiate
agreement.

- Eligible Educational Institutions
- Evaluate with the english aptitude exam to the
applicants, in a decentralized and free way. - Provide an intensive course of 8 hours per day
for 18 months. - Provide specialized consultancy to ensure the
completion of studies. - Link scholars with organizations, institutions
and binational entities to ensure the purpose of
the program.

ENGLISH I 1.1 Identify the main idea and some supporting ideas in short texts where the English language is used. 1.2 Identify the structure, understand phrases and vocabulary often used in an auditory english text. 1.3 Participate in short social exchanges asking and answering in english orally about routine issues and of their immediate environment. 1.4 Produce descriptive paragraphs on routine issues and their environment properly using some grammatical rules of english language.
