Christmas in Portugal
2Hello , Im Ana. Im a Portuguese girl and I live
in Cantanhede. Im in class 9th C. In Portugal ,
we celebrate Christmas on 25th December.
3Here in Cantanhede theres no snow. It sometimes
rains and the weather is very cold. People wear
long coats , gloves and scarves.
4In my country, we usually put up the Christmas
tree and set the Nativity Scene in the first week
of December.
5On Christmas Eve, families get together for
dinner. They eat boiled codfish with
potatoes,eggs, Portuguese green cabbage with
olive oil. Then we eat roasted turkey .
6There are a lot of desserts, but we never forget
the traditional BoloRei, which is a cake with
nuts, almonds and fruits on it.
7After dinner some people go to church to attend
Missa do Galo to celebrate Christs birth.
There are also Christmas concerts with Christmas
Carols.
8Children used to open the presents on Christmas
morning, but nowadays they open them at midnight
on the 24th.
9On Christmas day families get together again for
lunch.Children play with their new toys.
10Well, this is how we celebrate Christmas in
Portugal. Merry Christmas and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Greetings from Cantanhede-Portugal!
