Yes, there will be an IGEL Conference in 2006

• In the neighbourhood of Munich
• in all probability early August 2006
• negotiations with the Poetic and Linguistics
  Association going on (Joennsu)
• ideal would be PALA and IGEL piggybacked in
  Munich
• we will keep you informed of the new developments
• will be the 10th conference, and the 20th year of
  existence of IGEL !

And, yes, there will be another Summer Institute
in 2006

• Aimed at junior researchers in ESL
• to further develop methodological insights and
  skills
• one innovation participants will prepare
  themselves months ahead through interaction over
  the internet (discussion forum)

• Supported by the REDES group involved in
  Knowledge Management

• Marcelo Oliveiro
• Alexei Tiourikov
• So that we will pick the most efficient methods
  of instruction / cooperation

The Summer Institute will be held in Munich city

• So as to make optimal use of the citys and
  universitys facilities
• to also explore the history and culture
• to establish contacts with the REDES research
  group
• to navigate through Munich student life
• to see where Thomas Mann sipped coffee before
  writing yet another novel

• Was founded on 14th June 1158
• by Henri the Lion
• has 1.250.000 inhabitants
• some 25 of whom are foreigners
• one of the safest towns in Germany
• industry concentrates on high tech
• 13.5 million overnight visitors last year
• and 56 million day visitors
