This publication is not yet required of
students. The library is working on obtaining a
site license from APA so that it is available
electronically to NSU community. The following
information is to highlight some of the
forthcoming changes. Please wait for official
announcement from FSEHS to implement all these
rules.

6General Rules
- Include same elements, in the same order, as used
in a fixed-media source. - Add as much electronic retrieval information as
needed for others to locate the sources you cite. - It is preferable to cite the final version (i.e.,
archival copy or version of record)

- No retrieval date is necessary for content that
is not likely to be changed or updated, such as a
journal article - With the exception of hard-to-find books and
other documents of limited circulation delivered
by electronic databases, the database name is no
longer a necessary element of the reference.

13Digital Object Identifiers (DOI)
- Content on the Internet tends to move or be
deleted, so scholarly publishers have begun
assigning a DOI to journal articles. - Unique alphanumeric string assigned which
provides a persistent link - Link to article if have authorized access
OR - Abstract and article for purchase
- When a DOI is available, include the DOI instead
of the URL in the reference.
