  • The Confederates planned to invade Maryland and
    Pennsylvania.
  • The Union was aware of the the plan and moved to
    attack.
  • The Confederates fell back and the Union won.
  • There were 23,000 even dead and wounded on both
    sides.

  • January July 1863
  • Confederates built a barricade to keep away Union
    forces.
  • When Union troops advanced, Confederates began to
    fight back.
  • They failed and drew back.
  • The Confederates failed and surrendered.
