Matthew 2017-28 NAS
  • And as Jesus was about to go up to Jerusalem, He
took the twelve disciples aside by themselves,
and on the way He said to them, "Behold, we are
going up to Jerusalem and the Son of Man will be
delivered to the chief priests and scribes,

4
Matthew 2017-28 NAS
  • and they will condemn Him to death, and will
deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and scourge
and crucify Him, and on the third day He will be
    raised up."

5
Matthew 2017-28 NAS
  • Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to
Him with her sons, bowing down, and making a
request of Him. And He said to her, "What do you
wish?" She said to Him, "Command that in Your
kingdom these two sons of mine may sit, one on
Your right and one on Your left."

6
Matthew 2017-28 NAS
  • But Jesus answered and said, "You do not know
what you are asking for. Are you able to drink
the cup that I am about to drink?" They said to
Him, "We are able." He said to them, "My cup
you shall drink but to sit on My right and on My
left, this is not Mine to give, but it is for
those for whom it has been prepared by My
    Father."

7
Matthew 2017-28 NAS
  • And hearing this, the ten became indignant with
the two brothers. But Jesus called them to
Himself, and said, "You know that the rulers of
the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great
    men exercise authority over them.

8
Matthew 2017-28 NAS
  • It is not so among you, but whoever wishes to
become great among you shall be your servant,
and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be
your slave just as the Son of Man did not come
to be served, but to serve, and to give His life
    a ransom for many."

9
Luke 1811-14 NAS
  • The Pharisee stood and was praying thus to
himself, God, I thank Thee that I am not like
other people swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or
even like this tax-gatherer. I fast twice a
week I pay tithes of all that I get.

10
Luke 1811-14 NAS
  • But the tax-gatherer, standing some distance
away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to
heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, God,
be merciful to me, the sinner! I tell you, this
man went down to his house justified rather than
the other for everyone who exalts himself shall
be humbled, but he who humbles himself shall be
    exalted.

11
John 33-6 NAS
  • Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I
say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot
see the kingdom of God." Nicodemus said to Him,
"How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot
enter a second time into his mothers womb and be
    born, can he?"

12
Matthew 1129 NAS
  • Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I
am gentle and humble in heart and you shall find
    rest for your souls.

13
Zechariah 99 NAS
  • Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in
triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your
king is coming to you He is just and endowed
with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey,
Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

14
James 410 NAS
  • Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord,
    and He will exalt you.

15
Luke 147-11 NAS
  • And He began speaking a parable to the invited
guests when He noticed how they had been picking
out the places of honor at the table saying to
them, "When you are invited by someone to a
wedding feast, do not take the place of honor,
lest someone more distinguished than you may have
been invited by him, and he who invited you both
shall come and say to you,

16
Luke 147-11 NAS
  • Give place to this man, and then in disgrace
you proceed to occupy the last place. But when
you are invited, go and recline at the last
place, so that when the one who has invited you
comes, he may say to you, Friend, move up
higher then you will have honor in the sight of
all who are at the table with you. For everyone
who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who
    humbles himself shall be exalted."

17
Luke 1412-14 NAS
  • And He also went on to say to the one who had
invited Him, "When you give a luncheon or a
dinner, do not invite your friends or your
brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors,
lest they also invite you in return, and
    repayment come to you.

18
Luke 1412-14 NAS
  • "But when you give a reception, invite the poor,
the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will
be blessed, since they do not have the means to
repay you for you will be repaid at the
    resurrection of the righteous."

19
John 133-17 NAS
  • Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all
things into His hands, and that He had come forth
from God, and was going back to God, rose from
supper, and laid aside His garments and taking a
towel, He girded Himself about. Then He poured
water into the basin, and began to wash the
disciples feet, and to wipe them with the towel
with which He was girded. And so He came to
Simon Peter. He said to Him, "Lord, do You wash
    my feet?"

20
John 133-17 NAS
  • Jesus answered and said to him, "What I do you do
not realize now, but you shall understand
hereafter." Peter said to Him, "Never shall You
wash my feet!" Jesus answered him, "If I do not
wash you, you have no part with Me." Simon
Peter said to Him, "Lord, not my feet only, but
also my hands and my head." Jesus said to him,
"He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet,
but is completely clean and you are clean, but
not all of you." For He knew the one who was
betraying Him for this reason He said, "Not all
    of you are clean."

21
Psalms 3734 NAS
  • Wait for the Lord, and keep His way, And He will
exalt you to inherit the land When the wicked
are cut off, you will see it.
