  • April 2002 Request for proposal set out by PESA
    for the development and maintenance of the PESA
    product price file
  • June 2002 Tender awarded to the JV company PESA
    Product File Managers as the PESA technical
    committee believed that the objectives of the
    project would be best achieved by the cooperation
    of 2 of the companies that have submitted the
    tender.

MANUFACTURERS
  • Price of products will be controlled by
    manufacturer / owner of the product
  • Only the manufacturer will be allowed to change
    the price of its own products
  • Lower communication and distribution cost for the
    manufacturer
  • The manufacturer will have control over the price
    that reach the end-user

PRICEFILE / SOFTWARE VENDORS
  • Vendor will receive TIMEOUS price updates daily
  • (Choice of incremental or entire file before
    download)
  • No action required other than conversion to their
    own format
  • Same master product price file for claims as
    used by PBMs Medical Schemes eliminate price
    discrepancies
  • Responsibility of accuracy of price file removed
    from the vendor
