The Loggia dei Lanzi, built between 1376 and 1382 to house the assemblies of the people and hold public ceremonies like, for example, the swearing into office of the Gonfaloniers and the Priors, stands on the righthand corner of Palazzo Vecchio, where Piazza della Signoria meets the square of the Uffizi. It was in fact originally called the Loggia della Signoria or "of Orcagna", from the name of the artist who designed it (though it was actually carried out by Benci di Cione and Simone Talenti). During Cosimo I's reign, it was used to house the Duke's Lasquenets or German mercenary troups, from whom it eventually took its name.
San Miniato al Monte (St. Miniatus on the Mountain) is a basilica in Florence, central Italy, standing atop one of the highest points in the city. It has been described as one of the finest Romanesque structures in Tuscany and one of the most beautiful churches in Italy. There is an adjoining Olivetan monastery, seen to the right of the basilica when ascending the stairs. St. Miniato or Minas was an Armenian prince serving in the Roman army under Emperor Decius.
The figure of Neptune, made of white Carrara marble and which recalls the features of Cosimo I de' Medici, was an allusion to the maritime dominion of Florence; it stands on a pedestal decorated with the statues of Scylla and Charybdis in the center of the octagonal basin. Although the statue was not particularly appreciated (it is said that the Florentines who came to the night inauguration of the statue upon discovering the work noticed the whiteness of the statue more than its beauty, hence the name "Biancone" and coined the motto "Ammannato, Ammannato, che bel marmo hai rovinato!") the work continued over the next ten years, with the help of the best sculptors in the city for the edge of the basin. At the feet of Neptune are three tritons intent on playing tibias that spurt water. The basin is octagonal and contains the four horses of Neptune's chariot, whose wheels are celestial wheels with the signs of the zodiac, symbolizing the passage of time
Stefano Bardini (1836–1922) was an Italian connoisseur and art dealer in Florence who specialized in Italian paintings, Renaissance sculpture, cassoni and other Renaissance and Cinquecento furnishings and architectural fragments. Working as a restorer many well-known works of Renaissance art bear a Bardini provenience. The National Gallery of Art, Washington DC, has some twenty works that passed through his hands, notably the Benedetto da Maiano Madonna and Child, the Bernardo Daddi Saint Paul and the Portrait of a Youth by Filippino Lippi. The Metropolitan Museum of Art conserves eight paintings that Bardini once owned, including Veronese's Boy with a Greyhound, and Giovanni di Paolo's Coronation of the Virgin from the Robert Lehman collection. His bequest to the city of Florence resulted in the opening of the Museo Bardini in 1923; the Giardino Bardini across from it is also his legacy

The Cappella del Cardinale del Portogallo to the left of the nave, "one of the most magnificent funerary monuments of the Italian Renaissance", was built in 1473 as a memorial to Cardinal James of Lusitania, who died in Florence, to which he was Portuguese ambassador, in 1459. It is the only tomb in the church.

The Uffizi Gallery is one of the oldest and most famous art museums of the Western world. The Vasari Corridor (Corridoio Vasariano) is an elevated enclosed passageway in Florence, which connects the Palazzo Vecchio with the Palazzo Pitti. In the centre of Florence you can still find several towers (or remnants thereof) which managed to survive civil wars and reprisals, lightning strikes and demolitions following city reshaping. Florence's museums, palaces, and churches house some of the greatest artistic treasures in the world.
The Historic Centre of Florence was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1982. Basilica di Santa Trinità ("Holy Trinity") is a church in central Florence (Nearby is the Ponte Santa Trinita over the river Arno). The church is famous for its Sassetti Chapel, containing notable frescoes by Domenico Ghirlandaio, ranked amongst 15th century painting's masterworks, and the Bartolini Salimbeni Chapel, with frescoes by Lorenzo Monaco.
Located on the Via Calzaiuoli in Florence, Orsanmichele (or "Kitchen Garden of St. Michael", from the contraction in Tuscan dialect of the Italian word orto) was originally built as a grain market in 1337 by Francesco Talenti, Neri di Fioravante, and Benci di Cione. Between 1380 and 1404 it was converted into a church used as the chapel of Florence's powerful craft and trade guilds. On the ground floor of the square building are the 13th century arches that originally formed the loggia of the grain market.
The Basilica di Santa Croce (Basilica of the Holy Cross) is the principal Franciscan church in Florence, Italy, the largest Franciscan church in the world. It is situated on the Piazza di Santa Croce, about 800 metres south east of the Duomo. It is the burial place of some of the most illustrious Italians, such as Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, Foscolo, Gentile and Rossini, thus it is known also as the Temple of the Italian Glories (Tempio dell'Itale Glorie).
Piazza della Santissima Annunziata in Florence is a square of great stylistic harmony, designed by some of the greatest Renaissance architects. The Basilica della Santissima Annunziata (Basilica of the Most Holy Annunciation) is a Roman Catholic minor basilica founded in 1250. The Spedale degli Innocenti dates back to the early fifteenth century. It was the first European orphanage, and represents the first building in Renaissance style
