Sustainable energy
There must be two parallel paths in the
approach to a sustainable energy system. One
approach is energy efficiency the other is
renewable energy technology Energy will
always be needed, in the short run as well as in
the future.

Bioenergy in Sweden
- 109 TWh biofuels in 2004.
- 3-4 TWh more energy production than the previous
year. - The share of biofuels supplied to the Swedish
energy system is now larger than the share
supplied of electricity from hydropower or
nuclear power, or the share of oil for heating. - Possible to double the present use of bioenergy.

Goals and ambitions
- The Nuclear Power Phase-Out Act (started in
1997) - Break dependence on fossil fuels by 2020
- Renewable electricity production will have
increased by 15 TWh, by 2016 - By 2020 no home will need oil for heating, no
motorist will be obliged to use petrol as the
sole option available and there will always be
better alternatives to oil
