THE PROJECT
1. The project of this documentary was born from
the cooperation between two film-makers and "Cota
Tequila Production", the company organizing
Paganello, the world frisbee event which takes
place annually in Rimini, over the Easter weekend
and in which 1500 athletes from 25 nations
participate. The project for realizing a
movie-documentary on the occasion of the 14th
edition of Paganello is focused on identifying a
new team, which will become the protagonist of
the movie. A team that we will meet and film in
their home country before leaving for Rimini and
that we will then follow throughout the five days
of the event. Besides the fact of not having
taken part in Paganello before, the second
requested feature is to come from an
extra-European reality, since the virginity of
the look is one of the prerequisites through
which we aim to read and to document the event
and the country where it is traditionally held.
2. The chosen team, as protagonist is the
Holylanders, a squad coming from Israel. In order
to turn our team into the protagonist of the
picture, we have to introduce it. Therefore, the
documentary has to start in Israel, to know the
reality where each single player on the team
comes from. We need to understand which kind of
life they lead, what they study, what their
professions are, basically we need to comprehend
who they are and which their expectations with
respect to the experience they are going into
are.
3. Documenting their life in Israel, the
devotion towards the unique sport of frisbee and
the excitement of working for its growth in their
country, following them during the last
practicing sessions and then during their journey
to Rimini and finally during the five days of the
event. Through their eyes, telling about the
meeting of 1500 men and women gathered on the
Rimini beach from all over the world to spend
five days marked by sport, fun, music and
parties.
4. The place of origin of the chosen team, a
land, which is so important and present in the
collective imagination and in the international
news adds interest and value to the basic idea of
the project. It allows us to tell about the
experience of a bunch of guys who come from a
country, where war, danger and divisions between
communities and people are a reality a bunch of
guys, who spend several weeks in the army
throughout the whole year and who, next Easter,
are traveling to Rimini with a disc in a hand to
go and play frisbee in the so-called "city of
fun". The deep conflict between these two
realities, between the lives that these players
and all the others joining them in Rimini are
leading is so unique, alive and pulsing that
makes this story definitely worth telling. The
meeting of two realities and two aspects of our
time more distant psychologically than
geographically.
