Reading Renaissance

• Goals based students ZPD range
• Books selected in students reading zones
• Student maintain reading folders

Homework

• Green take-home folder used daily
• Right pocket is the student side for notes going
  home, etc.
• Left side is the teacher side for homework and
  notes for teachers.
• Assignment sheet in the middle
• Students record homework from board daily
• Homework should never exceed 60 minutes
• Students are encouraged to read for 30 minutes
  each day at home.

Organization

• Students should have binders to organize
• All corrected class work
• All corrected homework
• All handouts
• All study notes
• Cleaned out according to teachers directions
  (Any papers printed on colored paper should stay
  in binder throughout the school year.)

Absences/Early Dismissal

• Note required explaining absence
• Make-up work can be picked up at the end of the
  day (after 330)
• Students expected to see teacher about make-up
  work
• Long-term absences refer to BRE handbook
• Please try to make appointments after 330. We
  teach until 325 every day.

• RESPONSIBILITY
• Be prepared (materials, Take Home folders,
  homework)
• Return signed communications
• Keep work areas neat and clean
• Turn in all class work as directed
• Complete and turn in all homework assignments

• BEHAVIOR
• Listen to and follow directions
• Talk at appropriate times
• Practice self-control and respect the rights of
  others
• Follow these rules when outside of the classroom

• Consequences
• 1. Verbal Warning
• 2. Behavior Plan will be completed by student.
• 3. Three Behavior Plans in one day will result
  in a referral to the office
• A Behavior Plan will be completed for missing
  class work and/or homework
• Failure to follow BRE school rules will result
  in an automatic referral to the office.
• Rewards
• Each teacher will have a classroom reward system.
  
• At the end of each nine week grading period,
  there will be a nine week treat for students with
  2 or fewer Ns and Us on the weekly conduct
  report.

• Sent home weekly in blue Sign and Return folder
• Includes all graded papers from previous week
• Please sign and return all papers

Grading Procedure

• A 100-90
• B 89-80
• C 79-73
• D 72-70
• F 69 and below
• Chapter/Unit tests count double
• L.A. Grade 70 Reading/20 English/10 Spelling
• 10 points off per day for graded assignments
  turned in late (until a grade of 60)
