1PINTAFLORES OPEN INVITATIONAL GUIDELINES
2CATEGORY Open Interpretation this category
will still center on the storyline and original
theme of the festival however some variations may
exist depending on the creativity and ingenuity
of the contingent such as but not limited to the
peculiarities of other festival concepts, anent
subject to special rules as set herein. However,
in the case of an Open Invitational Competition
such as the Convergence of Negros Festivals the
participating contingent should maintain its
original concept of festival so as to maintain
its sense of identity.
3- How to integrate a twist of Pintaflores to the
festival? - Flower tattoo on the face of the dancers must be
depicted. - 2. The contingent should perform the Pintaflores
basic steps or figures. - Chanting of Vamos! San Carlos should be
executed by the dancers. - The contingent must perform/execute a human
flower formation during the streetdancing
showdown. - The Pintaflores jingle should be danced during
the final showdown
4Performers/Dancers refers to members of the
contingent who are directly engaged in dancing or
acts relative to the choreography performed in
rhythmic movements with accompaniment that suits
to the festival interpretation. There is no age
requirement for the performers/dancers hence the
contingent is given the option and responsibility
to determine the qualifications as deemed vital.
It must be understood that once an individual is
recognized as a performer/dancer of a contingent,
he or she must be physically and mentally fit to
perform the task relative to the
performance. Minimum Number 60 Maximum

5Auxiliaries/Support Crew refers to members of
the contingent whose responsibilities are similar
to that of a propsman/pole bearer/handler,
musical instruments handler, water boy, and other
utilities. Auxiliaries/Support crew should
conform to the requirements set by the contingent
and are presumed to be physically and mentally
fit. Each contingent should have their colored
nametags for the auxiliaries or support crew as
provided by the City Tourism Office. Minimum

6Instrumentalists/Musicians refers to a member
of the contingent who plays musical instruments
such as drums, gongs, cymbals, gansa, lyres and
others. Specific distance should be observed
about 20 meters minimum and 50 meters maximum
from each contingent Minimum Number 15 Maximu

7PINTAFLORES BASIC STEPS PAGLIPAY Both arms in
the amplified fifth position. Fingers in
beckoning/inviting gestures. Jumping footwork
with both feet close together. Shift with feet
in demi plie position, body in half squat
position, back erect, arms flexed towards the
chest with open palms facing outward and fingers
moving as if simulating the movement of petals
swaying in the wind. PAGKAB-OT PASALAMAT
Marching footwork. Arms on the sides slowly rise
to the amplified fifth position and then go back
down to original position. Variate by extending
right arm from the chest level to upward forward
position while left arm remains stationary on the
side chest level. Alternate right and left arm.
Move forward with marching footwork .
8BULAK PINTAW Cross Step. Alternate right and
left. Arms in second position. Left swings
overhead to right arm. Right swings to left.
Only the pulse area of each arm must touch each
other while the palms are facing outside and
fingers gently flexed. Alternate.
9ALIMYUN Marching footwork with hips swaying
right to left. Arms from second position close
towards the chest with palms taking on the form
of one big flower facing each other with only the
tips of the fingers of each hand touching.
Variate with both palms facing each other in the
chest area with right arm slowly opening to
sideward right, palms faced upward and fingers
mimicking the form of open flowers emitting their
fragrance. Same movement for the left arm.
Alternate.
10HUMAN FLOWER FORMATION The Human Flower
Formation is among the distinctive trademarks of
Pintaflores, an attribute that the Festival has
been known of. As one of the main features, it is
hereby enjoined that as such be replicated or
performed during the street dancing and
ritual/final showdown. The Human Flower
Formation can be performed combining rhythmic and
synchronized steps or figures including hands
props wherein dancers are in a circular form with
a coordinated movement by standing, kneeling,
bending, lying, rotating or any combination or
style thereof as long as it emulates the petals
that of a sunflower.
