4Information Technology in the Construction
Industry.
Why?
5- The Millennium Dome
- The Millennium Dome has got to be the greatest
waste of public money since the government spent
200 thousand on plants for government offices.
Statistics shows that the public were against the
building of the millenium dome, but it was to
hard for New Labour to put an end to something
thought up by the Tories, so they spent 758
million on a giant teflon dome which we have to
pay to build and then again to get into it. The
concept of celebrating a new millenium is crazy
enough but wasting public money on building this
dome against the public's wishes shows exactly
what kind of government we have. - The 758 million could have
- Housed the homeless for 12 years
- built 4 major hospitals
- insulated the homes of one and a half million
pensioners - connect every school in Britain to the internet
- fund Great Ormond Street hospital for children
for 7 years - delay the introduction of student tuition fees
for 7 years - fund oxfam for 10 years
- or build a giant pointless dome on an old gas
works site that has potentially harmful chemicals
in the soil, a dome which 86 of people don't
want and will only last for 12 years.
6SKANSKA NEWS 010221 There is a risk that parts of
Skanska Residential Development Divisions
construction project at Sickla Strand in
Stockholm can be delayed. According to plans, one
of the residential buildings that are currently
under production is to be ready for occupancy in
autumn 2001. However, heavy rain and high levels
of humidity during the past six months have led
to problems with damp and work to replace damaged
building materials can prolong the construction
process. Contact Bengt Wånggren , Environmental

9Project Management Characteristics
- Process Work Flow Based (Hope for the best,
prepare for the worst, Fail-Safe) - Focus on the Goals, Ballance ScoreCard
- Strong decision making abilities (Work
description, measurable objectives, clarified
responsibility) - Open minded towards NT
10Process Work Flow Based
- Activity based
- Recognized Ahaa, I have seen this before!
- Defined Start and Finish dates and Milestones
- Iterative (The most efficient way to improve
your quality is to make your work routine, ISO
9000)
