Water Sports Water-skiing, swimming, sailing an
d windsurfing are everywhere along the coast and
it's easy to hire equipment and arrange lessons.
Tarifa on the Straits of Gibraltar is host to the
world windsurfing championships. The lakes in
Castilla and Extremadura also have good
windsurfing facilities. The northern coast around
Bay of Biscay has some excellent surfing,
particularly around Mundaka where deep tubes up
to 12 feet high attract surfers from all over the
world

St. Beatus Caves Several thousand years ago tro
glodytes made their dwellings. Legend has it that
this monumental natural construction, fashioned
over millions of years, served St. Beatus as a
safe refuge in the 6th Century. Roaring cascades
can be heard while crossing the immense rooms,
from which branch of narrow passages and grottoes
containing fascinating stalagmites and
stalactites. Thanks to easy paths and lighting to
the depth of 1000 m, the caves are accessible to
everyone.Whereas in the 18th century the
picturesque Pilgrims's Path was the only access,
the popular St. Beatus Caves are nowadays easy to
reach by boat, bus or car.
The Rhine Falls Neuhausen Near Schaffhausen the
Rhine River offers visitors the glorious
spectacle of the largest waterfall in Europe. At
a width of 150 m and a height of 23 m, an average
of 700 m3 of water rushes over the cliffs each
second.
Caves Hölloch Muotathal The "Hölloch" which me
ans "Hells Hole" is the longest cavity in Europe
and among the largest in the world. By its wide
tunnels, huge halls, chasms, pot-holes and
petrifactions, it provides an axcellent display
of what the strength of the water has built in
the underground over almost half a million years.

Sperlonga beach To the north of the headland is
a the modern part of Sperlonga, catering mainly
for tourists keen on well-developed beaches. The
real treasure lies south of the town. Beyond the
harbour stretches an exquisite length of beach,
with gorgeously clean sand and water. There are
trees and greenery along the shore, and the
atmosphere is luxuriantly peaceful. Most of the
beach is taken up with beach establishments,
where you pay to use the facilities and enjoy a
shaded sun bed. But there are also generous
stretches of 'spiaggia libera', free beach, where
you can bring your own towels and equipment and
bathe for free. And there is plenty of space to
promenade along the water's edge without paying
anything
Lake Como day trip Lake Como (Lago di Como) is
one of the famous Italian Lakes destinations, not
far from Milan in the north of Italy. Lake Como
is long (50km), slender and extremely deep. The
southern end forks into two long 'legs', with the
picturesque town of Bellagio situated on the
promontory between them.

Spanish Riding School The Spanish Riding Schoo
l of Vienna is the oldest and last riding school
in the world where classic dressage is still
practiced in its purest form. This Institute was
founded in 1572 and named for the Lipizzaner
horses, which are of Spanish origin. The Imperial
Court Stud was originally situated near the
village of Lipizza (hence the name of the horses)
but since the collapse of the Danube Monarchy in
1920 have been bred at the Federal Stud in
Styria. The horses perform their tricks in the
Winter Riding School, which was commissioned by
Emperor Karl VI.
Horses Workout Every day (except for Monday),
the white Lipizzaner stallions are put through
their paces by their riders. The primary
objective is to maintain the horses' athleticism
and health, as well as to build up various muscle
groups that are necessary for performing the
exercises of the haute école.

you climb of 209 meters of stairway to the top of
Rundetarn, you will be rewarded with beautiful,
panoramic views of the medieval city. The
endlessly spiraling staircase twists around the
centre of the 35m high tower seven and a half
times. In 1716, Czar Peter the Great rode his
horse to the top. His wife, Katarina, made the
same journey in a lightweight two-wheeled
carriage. Today 400,000 people visit it and once
a year a unicycle race is held in the tower.
Tivoli amusement park With its unique location, i
n the heart of the city, the world famous
amusement park has been visited by millions of
people since 1843. Many of the original buildings
still remain. Besides the amusement rides you
will find a calm oasis in the botanical gardens
with over 400,000 summer blooms. Other
entertainment options are Tivoli's review
theatre, Pantomime Theatre, parade concerts and
midnight firework displays on Wednesday and
weekend nights.
Copenhagen Zoo World-famous Zoo with 2000 animal
s from all parts of the world - many of them very
rare. New and modern exhibits showing the animals
in natural surroundings. Whatever the weather,
the zoo can provide tropical adventures in the
Tropical Zoo - furthermore night zoo where day is
turned into night, African savannah, jungle with
chimpanzees and South American pampas.

Reflection

• After doing this project, I realize that it is
  possible to go to Europe without having to spend
  a lot of money. My friend and I are planning to
  get a job and begin saving so we can go the
  summer we graduate. We know that we can meet
  lots of other kids from around the world by
  staying in the hostels and that we can grow so
  much through this experience. I now know what to
  do to make this dream possible and Im very
  excited about experiencing the possibility of
  such a great adventure.18
