• Religious order-The monks of Cluny, France
  established a new religious order. They dedicated
  their lives to a religion with common rules
  .Other new orders followed.
• Living apart from society-Most monks lived apart
  from society, but two new religious orders
  developed for those who wanted to live and teach
  among people

• Francis of Assisi - These were the Dominicans,
  started by Dominic de Guzman , and the
  Franciscans , started by Francis of Assisi.

Magna Carta Causes Change in England

• The Magna Carta is a document written by English
  nobles and signed by King John listing rights
  the king could not ignore
• The nobles demanded this agreement

Effects of the Magna Carta

• The Magna carta led to more changes. Faced with
  war and financial troubles the king turned to a
  council of nobles for advice and money , which
  led to a parliament
• No one could be kept in jail without reason
  this is important because the king could send
  people to jail for no reason and that was
  unjust/unfair

Black Death

• A deadly plague that swept through Europe
  between 1347 and 11351 It was caused be fleas
  that lived on infected rats.

What happened to it

• The people who survived the black death realized
  that the disease came from infected rats that the
  fleas (that had been on the rats) had spread it
  to the people and so the people cleaned up the
  streets and got rid of the trash and sewage in
  the roads so the rats would not be atracted to
  the cities

• The plague originated from central and eastern
  Asia

• It spread because traders unknowingly brought
  rats carrying the disease to Mediterranian ports

• The disease was the Bubonic plague. That came
  from fleas on infected rats

• The old manor system already collapses. Plague
  survivors found their skills in demand, and
  charged more for their labor
• Twenty five million people died from this plague(
  2/3 of the population)
