    church-pilgrims visited religious places.

  • Dedicated their lives to religion with common
    rules . Lived apart from society.

  • -Francis of Assisi-created the Franciscan order
  • -Friars-were religious people who lived for god.
  • -These friars could have no worldly possessions.
  • -They lived along side the people of the towns.

  • Thomas Aquinas made a system called Natural law .
    It was to show how God had ordered the world.

    schools.
  • -Students were taught religion , law , medicine ,

  • The nobles demanded this agreement to the king so
    other people would have some rights.

Effects of Magna Carta
  • The empire started to become a democracy.
  • The three demands were no one could be held in
    jail with out a reason. Another one is you have
    to have evidence for why people were put in jail
    . Last one was people had to have a fair trial .
    They were important because it was the first step
    in democracy .

  • King turn to nobles for support in dealing with
    war and financial issues.
  • These councils of nobles would eventually lead to
    a parliament.

  • -Joan of Arch was a teenage peasant girl who
    rallied the French troops and turned the tide of
    the Hundred Years War.

    in England.
  • -The kings power grew after the war in France.
  • -Democracy in France will have to wait .

  • -The disease was fleas that fed on infected rats
    . The main disease was the bubonic pleague.

Effects on Manor life and feudalism/How many died?
  • The old manor system already weakened by the
    growth of cities , collapsed . Plague survivors
    found their skills in demand and charged more for
    their labor . Instead of working for the rich ,
    peasants now had other job opportunities .
  • The Black Death killed one third which was 25
    million people .

What happened to it?
  • -All of Europe got really clean and healthy by
    cleaning the trash off the streets . Once they
    cleaned the streets the rats had nothing to eat
    so they left .
