Origins - Bow Street Runners
  • Reasonably well equipped handcuffs, pistol,
    stick uniforms
  • Organised by a magistrate familiar with
    criminals in the area
  • Expanded due to demand Henry Fielding set up
    horse patrol by 1792, 7 areas of London had
    police offices
