do is to develop the ability to use knowledge and
skills in the workplace effectively.
The Employability Challenge, 2009 - The shift the focus has moved from getting
people back into work quickly to improving
individuals skills to gain sustainable
employment .
5Employability skills policy and context (2)
- The Employability challenge report found that
although some schools, colleges, universities and
training providers prepare their students well
for the workplace, too many do not. - Employers spend time and money training new
recruits in everyday skills, such as taking a
telephone message or writing a report. - The shift employability is about making sure
learners are work ready and not just job ready.
6Employability Skills What?
- Employability skills are the skills almost
everyone needs to do almost any job. UKCES,
2009 - They are the skills that make specific
knowledge and technical skills fully productive.
Without employability skills, UK Plc ceases to be
a global economic force and individuals dont get
and progress in rewarding jobs. -
