Civic Registration - Personnummer
  • Students who study in Sweden for more than one
    year must have a personnummer.
  •  
  • The Swedish Tax Office is the authority that
    will issue the civic registrations numbers.
    Please bring your
  • passport with your residence permit
  • acceptance letter

Residence permit renewal
  • Renewal of Residence permit takes at least 8
    weeks. You must apply before your current permit
    expires.
  • Required documents
  • - Sufficient study results (45 ECTS per academic
    year)
  • - Bank documents, showing your funding for the
    past year
  • - Proof of funding for the remaining year
  • You are entitled to stay in Sweden while the
    renewal is being processed. If you leave, you
    will not be allowed to return to Sweden until you
    get your residence permit.

  • KTH has made special arrangements for
    international students with two banks Nordea
    and SEB.
  • The offers vary depending on if the student stays
    less or more than one year in Sweden.

  • Remember to close your account when leaving!

Banking Information Update
  • For Nordea branches
  • St Eriksgatan 43, Odengatan 54, Kungsgatan 52
  • Ignore the times written on your application
    forms.
  • These offices are only open until 6pm on Mondays.
    For all other weekdays, you can visit between 10
    and 4pm.
  • Do not visit during lunch hours (12-1pm) or in
    groups of more than 2 students.

Health care
A Health Care Guide for medical and dental
treatment is found in the blue folder. Study
this carefully! EU Citizens and Students with a
Civic Registration Number You are entitled to
health care on same conditions as Swedes.
Treatments cost SEK 140 260 International
Students without a Swedish Civic Registration
Number Pay full medical fees, contact your
insurance company for reimbursement. coverage!

  • Dental treatment is relatively expensive (even

  • Make sure you have a complete insurance coverage!
  • It is recommended that you buy an insurance in
    your home country, covering
