viability of the electric-electronic industry in
the long term.  Vision  The electric-electronic
industry is broad and competitive, based on an

- ? To make sure the presence of joiner and
manufacturing companies in Mexico - ? To define a duty structure that allows the
acquisition of goods, parts and components to
competitive prices - ? To establish conditions for the industrys
development, particularly in the bigger
concentration regions - ? To develop the supporting industry in Mexico
- ? To sponsor established industries in the
country with developments capacity to turn them
in suppliers, in the link of the productive chain
of their speciality - ? To promote the establishment of foreign
supplier companies in Mexico

Work Process  Work Subgroups will be formed to
attend specific topics. Each group will define a
critical route in order to accomplish their
activities and achieve objectives in determined
times. Â The Electric-Electronic Industrys Work
Group as a team will gather together every three
months, or before if members wish it so.

Objectives of the Work Subgroups ? PROSEC ? To
permanently review the lists of PROSEC duty
codes, in order to make sure that the established
criteria be achieved. ? To adjust duty codes
lists in agreement with the results that the
other subgroups report. ? Established Suppliers
in Mexico ? To sponsor and follow the business
contacts between maquiladoras and established
suppliers in Mexico. Sections can be formed by
products speciality.

of the supplying companies and accomplish actions

10Renewal of the Regla Octava
- ? Based on the information of the Formato para
identificar necesidades de proveedurÃa, the
SecretarÃa de EconomÃa will sponsor contacts
between the maquiladora industry and potential
suppliers and will continue following the
negotiations - ? To be able to receive again the importation
permission for Regla Octava, the maquiladora
company has to prove that it indeed searched for
established suppliers in the country, be it by
the SecretarÃa de EconomÃa or by its own means - ? The proof will be the Formato de seguimiento de
negociaciones de proveedurÃa nacional, where the
process and result of the negotiations will be
registered and will must be signed by
representatives of both companies.
