1. What is Computer

• The word Computer comes from the word Compute
  which means to calculate. So computer is normally
  considered an electronic calculating device that
  can perform arithmetic operations at enormous
  speed. We can also say that it is an electronic
  device that convert data into information.

Basically Computer consist of three parts as
mentioned below

2. Input Devices

• Input devices The devices by which computer take
  input and feed data into computer system are
  called Input devices.
• Some of the commonly used Input devices are
• Keyboard Most commonly used Input device is
  Keyboard is the standard feature of a computer.
  They are used for entering data directly into
  computer.

• Mouse Mouse is an electronic device can fit in
  our palm comfortably. It has one or more button
  on top. When a user moves on mouse on flat
  surface, the movement cause the pointer to move
  on the screen.
• Touch screen It is the special type of computer
  monitor. It responds when we touch it. It accepts
  our input when we touch the particular space of
  screen.

• Scanners Scanners are basically input devices
  which are capable of recongising marks or
  characters. Thus they are used for direct entry
  into computer.

3. Output Devices

• Output devices The devices that used to display
  the information through various devices are
  called output devices.
• There are various types of output devices
• Printer Printers are used to prepare permanent
  document in human readable form. Printers are of
  two types Impact and Non impact

• Impact Printer In this category of printers head
  and paper are in mechanical contact.
• These types of printers are of two types
• 1.Daisy wheel These printers use as a wheel font
  known as a daisy wheel. Each petal of the daisy
  wheel has a character embossed on it.

• 2.Dot matrix These printers print each character
  as a pattern of dots. The print head comprise of
  tiny needles.
• Non impact printer These printers dont hit a
  ribbon to printer. There are two types of Non
  impact printer
• 1.Inkjet These printers are based on new
  technology. They print characters by spraying
  small drop of ink on the paper.

• 2.Laser It is a non impact printer that creates
  by means of laser beam on photosensitive surface.
• Monitor Monitor looks like a television. It
  allows the user to check the things that are
  being typed. There are two types of monitor
• 1.Monochrome These monitors have a dark
  background. Letters appears either in grey or
  white color.

• 2.Color These monitors can display text and
  pictures in all colors.
