- New Developments
- Driven by implementing diverse archives into
prototype - RGB colour composition
- Contour representation
- Display enhancements for radio images and
management of very large images - VizieR search enhancements based on UCDs, and
facilities to convert units and combine tables
- Implementation of a working Interoperability
Prototype is a milestone for year one of the AVO
project. - The basic task of the prototype is to federate
ground and space multi-? data archives of AVO
partners into the CDS interoperability services
(VizieR and Aladin). - The aims of the prototype system are to
- Evaluate interoperability tools in terms of
usability and function - Drive specifications and development of new
functionalities - Provide a test bed for new and evolving
standards (UCDs,VOTable) - Enable early science usage of VO-like tools and
get user feedback - Heighten awareness about basic interoperability
requirements among archive providers - Compile a set of practical interoperability
recommendations -

Colour composition of three DSS images of the
Crab, with contours and positions of observations
stored in archives overlaid
- Practical recommendations for Interoperability
- Direct http access to archived images
- Astrometry information in FITS World Coordinate
System - Update mechanisms for living archives
- Assessment of data access and rights
Summary The AVO interoperability prototype is
implementing an increasing set of European
archives into the CDS VizieR and Aladin tools.
Additional developments and customizations are
also being driven by requirements of the AVO
