Food on the trail
  • The meat they ate on the trail, are bear, beaver,
    Javelina,fish, geese, muskrat, skunk, rabbit,
    beef, raccoon, turtle, venison, bison, and elk.
  • Some other foods on the trail are wild rice,
    bread, bacon, beans, dried fruit, rice, and
    pickles.

Some wagons
  • A treacherous section of the trail was filled
    with Indian attacks.
  • In September, the first of the wagons left the
    Humboldt River.
  • Next the wagons rolled into Surprise Valley.

  • Bulls, mules, and horses are animals that pulled
    the wagons.
  • The ox is a most noble animal, patient, thrifty,
    durable, gentle and does not run off.

Pioneer Men's Clothing
  • On hot days men wore long cotton smocks by them
    selves.
  • Men wore high laced shoes or work shoes
  • For fancy clothing men wore suit jackets,
    trousers, vests,top hats, and carried canes
  • Men also wore several tips of hats such as
    hunting hats, top hats, straw hats, and hats with
    visors.

  • Most hats had ribbons and flowers on them
  • Old bonnets were only used for working
  • Women wore sandals slippers , high buttons shoes
    and long stockings
  • The more fancy dresses had ruffled sleeves.
  • Girl children also wore aprons like there mothers
  • Young boys wore the same clothing as there
    fathers
