Dangers

• Sickness such as dehydration
• Unsafe water called Alakali
• Bad weather
• broken axles
• and worst of all death

The Wagon

• Wagon ranges between the price of 100.00 to the
  price of 150.00
• Body of the wagon box is 4 feet by 10 feet long
• be able to carry load of about 2000 pounds
• puled by a team of oxen
• oxen about 55 to about 65 per yoke

People / Clothing

• Familys best clothes were carefully stowed away
  and wont be taken out until their destination is
  reached
• Some men wore clothes day after day
• Even in the summer time men wore a flannel shirt,
  with a woolen undershirt beneath
• women also dress In skirts
• women always wear sunbonnets

The Trail

• Landmarks along the way are Independence Square,
  Alcove Springs,and Independence Rock
• usually traveled 2mph about 15 miles a day
• Begin the journey in the Spring
• The trip from Independence to Oregon took about 6
  months
• 10 of the people died on the trail
• many people died of dehydration

Supplies

• Weapons such as shotguns and rifles for hunting
• Bacon hard tack dried fruits and other dried
  goods
• Beans sugar molasses coffee tea
