  religious tension through out Europe. The wars
  that resulted were quite bloody.

  became militant.
• Violence within France was worse then most other
  areas.

French King Henry IV

• Responsible for bringing peace to France.
• He issued the Edict of Nantes, which allowed
  protestants the same rights as Catholics, but
  Catholicism would remain the national religion.
