Given an AN/TPQ-36(V)8 and in accordance with the
class outline, conduct a Friendly Fire mission

ENABLING LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Given an AN/TPQ-36(V)8 and in accordance with
    class guidelines
  • Process received friendly fire digital messages
  • Transmit friendly fire search fence status to
    registering unit
  • Prepare to observe a friendly fire registration
  • Process the did hit locations of friendly fire
    rounds
  • Transmit locations to supported unit
  • Print/Delete the locations

Secondary Mission
  • The secondary mission of the Firefinder Radar is
    to support friendly firing elements. This
    mission is performed in combat only when the
    Commander deems it necessary.
  • Some examples where the Radars may be used for
    Friendly Fire are
  • Field Artillery Raids
  • Gunnery Registrations to meet the conditions for
    accurate predicted fires
  • Adjust Fire Missions when observers are not in
    position or weather obscures their vision

Friendly Fire Operations
  • Overview
  • Friendly fire mode is used to produce the
    location of friendly fire rounds, air burst or
    datum plane.
  • This mode is entered from the hostile mode of
    operations.
  • The sequence is normally initiated by a request
    from the FDC.

  • THE BEST PROBABLE ANGLE-T IS 400(Highest
    Probability 90-95)MILS WITH ACCEPTABLE ANGLES OF
    0800 TO 1200 MILS USING 1000 AS THE OPTIMUM.
  • THE PROJECTILE IS TRACKED ON ITS DESCENDING
    TRAJECTORY

REQUIRES 350 M TRACK DISTANCE
