  • Consultation in November 2004 on the use of
    Edubase for Coordinated Admissions purposes
  • Suggested
  • Each LEA section of the Edubase database being
    forwarded to each LEA in .csv format each March
  • The LEA would be invited to comment on the LEA
    data provided and to return comments (proposed
    closures, mergers, new schools etc.) by the end
    of May
  • Edubase consulting on all comments received with
    SOU in June

  • LEAs and software houses obtaining new downloads
    in July from Edubase
  • All LEAs responding welcomed the proposals

Coordinated Admissions
  • Commenced review of transfer processes
  • Concentrated so far on ADT files
  • Problems have included
  • Missing data in files e.g. preferences, sibling
    address
  • Validation on version numbers
  • Import routines
  • Change files
  • Use of bureau for data capture/bulk entry
  • Patches issued to solve problems

  • File for out of LEA pupils in Year 5 to home
    LEA
  • File to assist bulk import of application data
  • Inclusion of UPN in ADT as an optional item
  • Provision of warnings if software tries to
    produce ADT files with missing mandatory data
  • Review of mandatory items

  • This week (and next) sees major activity in
    running allocations and exchanges of offers
    (iterations)
  • Offers are to be made to parents on 1 March
  • Will then be able to look back on exchange
    activity and identify if improvements are
    required

  • Response to last years consultation on absence
    codes etc issued
  • Includes new codes and guidance
  • Further copies available from Terry.Keane_at_dfes.gsi
    .gov.uk
  • Commencement date for using new codes in schools
    not later than September 2006
  • First collection using data derived from new
    codes - January 2007

  • 92 of returns made within 2 weeks
  • Thank you to LEA and school staff
  • Data now being analysed
  • Provide feedback to LEAs mid to late February
  • Comparison with previous year (where available)
  • Progress towards performance targets

Pupil Absence Recording and Data Collection
  • PRUs and pupils in alternative provision
  • Subject to Ministerial and Star Chamber approval,
    a special exercise in January 2006 to collect
    school level attendance/absence data from PRUs
    for Autumn Term 2005
  • LEAs asked to consider how similar data could be
    provided in respect of pupils in other
    alternative provision

  • Formal PRUs are schools and are subject to the
    same requirements as other schools
  • This includes requirements relating to the taking
    of registers
  • Details yet to be finalised
  • Will be formal notification to LEAs
  • Views on extension to alternative provision to
