WHY WAS THE NHS INTRODUCED?

• William Beveridge put forward ideas in a report
  in 1942.
• Aimed to introduce a free national health service
  for all.
• Wartime feeling supported the idea fighting for
  a better world.

• Nationalisation of hospitals.
• Creation of health centres.
• Better distribution of doctors around the
  country.
• New salary structure for doctors.
