Background

• Objectives
• Initially to support Practice Based Commissioning
  by
• providing a national, web-based, system for the
  provision of GP practice comparators
• being accessible to all GP practices, as well as
  PCTs, SHAs, Trusts, PHOs etc
• providing comparators of commissioning activity,
  referral patterns, outcomes, prescribing and QOF
  data
• having data refreshed quarterly and available
  shortly after the PbR Freeze date
• Not intended to replace local systems

Progress so far

• First released in May/June 2007
• Basic range of PBC Comparators and functions
• Well received by a user population that is
  continuing to grow
• Regular releases scheduled, with strong user
  involvement, through continuing rapid application
  Timebox developments
• Second release in September
• Increasing to over 50 comparators
• Added graphical functionality
• Modest increase in data available

  phases in January 2008 and include
• A significant update to the data
• The introduction of Provider comparators
• A suite of 18 Week comparators
• The introduction of a DH PBC budget setting
  support module
• Further PBC comparators
• Additional functionality including user defined
  groups
