Protect Yourself
  • There are only a few situations where you are
    REQUIRED to repeat an ATC clearance/limitation
    (i.e., HOLD SHORT, IFR Clearances, ect.). In
    most other situations, you can acknowledge a
    clearance by just saying your tail number.
    However, if ATC makes a mistake in a clearance
    and you say only your tail number, YOU ARE
    RESPONSIBLE. If you read back the entire ATC
    clearance and they dont catch their mistake,
    THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE. They will most likely
    catch their mistake, so when you do a complete
    read back, it is win / win situation!
