• General Bragg is one of the most controversial
  figures in the War of Southern Independence.
• He instilled a sense of discipline when he took
  over the Army of the Mississippi (later renamed
  the Army of Tennessee).

• The union was victorious.
• The reason this battle should be remembered is
  because it is what cost the confederates the war.

Battle of Lookout Mountain Continued

• What happened was Troops from Chattanooga (city
  history) had been pouring across Brown's Ferry
  and into Lookout Valley. Even the Rebel attack
  that destroyed Baldy Smith's bridge only slowed
  troop movement to the western side of Lookout
  Mountain. More than 10,000 Union soldiers were in
  position, appearing ready to attack roughly 1,000
  Rebels on the slopes and at the top of Lookout
  Mountain.

John Gordon B. Hall

• Confederate General and former governor of the
  state of Georgia. Construction began shortly
  after the Georgia Land Lottery and was completed
  in 1836. Gordon attended the school as a child
  and lived in the area.
