The Apollo Program

• It was initiated by U.S President John F. Kennedy
  on May 25, 1961.
• American manned lunar-space program designed to
  land an astronaut on the moon and return him
  safely to earth.
• Also intended to overtake the former Soviet Union
  in the space race.
