Title: Organizational Behavior 300 Motivation in Chicken Run

1
Organizational Behavior 300Motivation in
Chicken Run
  • Group 3

2
Death
  • In order to avoid being served as dinner, the
chickens had to produce. I DONT WANT TO BE IN
    PIE - Babs
  • To avoid a negative consequence, the chickens
    engage in the positive behavior

3
Pride
  • Fowler always boasted about how he used to be in
the old days during war times. However, he did
not know how to ride a plane
  • Gingers speech and his own pride motivated him
    to ride the plane

4
Freedom
  • The chickens work day and night in order to
ensure their ticket out of the chicken farm.
  • Ginger always talks about paradise which
motivated the chickens to be free

5
Sympathy
  • After escaping the chicken farm, he comes back
because of his love for Ginger
  • However, he also comes back because he cared
about the other chickens. He had sympathy for
    them.

6
Revenge
  • After Edwinas death, the chickens felt angry and
    sad
  • They wanted revenge of their dear friend by not
only escaping the farm, but somehow making the
Tweedy family pay for her death.

7
Greed
  • Money was the main motivator for the Tweedy
    Family.
  • The wife dominantly devised a plan to make them
rich without caring about the chicken farm

8
Fun Conformity
  • Nick and Fetch helped the chickens for eggs.
  • However, in the time of crises, they sacrificed
their fee (eggs) and conformed in the freedom of
    the chickens.
  • They hope to live a fun life!

9
Love
  • Rocky realizes that he is in love with Ginger
  • He also realizes that he was being selfish
  • He cares for other chickens as well so he comes
back and rescues and help them get freed

10
Theories and Explanations
  • Freedom or Death are the two motivators that can
take the form of SAFETY (lower-order needs) on
    Maslows Hierarchy of Needs.
  • Mrs. Tweedys greed and her power over her
husband can be supported by one of the sides of
the McClellands Theory of Needs (need for power)
  • Rockys love for Ginger and showing off in
front of other chickens can also supported by
McClellands Theory of Needs (need for
    affiliation).

11
Theories and Explanations contd
  • Rocky did not care about his life (safety) and
came to rescue Ginger and the rest of the
chickens (social) can be supported by Maslows
    Hierachy of Needs
  • Mack the nerd of the group who comes up with the
planes creation plan and Fowler who rides the
plane because of pride can be supported by
self-efficacy. They did the jobs because they
knew they could do it. This is true even though
    Fowler initially had his doubts.

12
Theories and Explanations contd
  • Babs always got worried and her behavior used to
drastically change when the Tweedys came to get
the eggs. This is supported by the reinforcement
theory because her behavoir changed due to a
consequence which in this case was its dreadful
    environment.
  • Ginger tells the chickens to speed up the process
as she sees the Tweedys coming close to fixing
the pie machine. The chickens respond to Ginger
and finish it on time. Their actions can be
supported by the Expectancy theory. Their
performance which in this case is to make the
plane depends on the reward which is total
freedom. They make the plane on time and get
    their desired reward of freedom.
