Why We are Making Changes
  • Looked at Improving Administration of Plans
  • Wanted to offer unbundled plans to add choices
  • Wanted to offer employee self-service which would
    allow employees to access information on their
    benefits year round
  • Listened to concerns of faculty/staff
  • Wanted to explore removing referrals on HMO plans
  • Wanted to look at option to enhance vision and
    dental benefits

What is Changing
  • Unbundling
  • All employees can elect benefits separately

  • HMO network change to UHC Choice

  • Employees with family in other states can now
    choose the HMO plan

Change in Timing of Contributions
  • Beginning January 1, 2009, employee contributions
    will correspond to the current month.
  • For example, medical deductions will be taken
    from the January paycheck(s) for premiums for the
    month of January. Currently, employees pay a
    month in advance.
  • As a result, on a one-time-only basis, medical,
    dental and vision deductions will not be taken
    out from any December 2008 paycheck.

Open Enrollment All Employees Must Enroll This
Year!!!
  • Online
  • Everyone must enroll online-Even if you do not
    want medical, dental or vision insurance!
  • Need to update contact information and emergency
    contact information
  • Able to chose benefits independently for
    example, employee medical and family dental
  • Even if you do not want medical, dental and
    vision, you must enroll for life and disability
    insurance (100 paid by CUA)
  • If you do not enroll, you will not be set up for
    benefits for 2009
