- 1883Founded by Southern German Conference of the
Methodist denomination (called Mission
Institute) - 1889name changed to Blinn Memorial College in
honor of Rev. Blinn who made a sizeable donation - 1888Blinn accepts female students
- 1927Blinn becomes a junior college
4BLINN COLLEGE HISTORY
- 1930Blinn merges with Southwestern University in
Georgetown, TX - 1934Blinn becomes a private, nonsectarian junior
college under the name Blinn College - 1937ties with Southwestern University and
Methodists severed Blinn College becomes the
first county-owned junior college in Texas

- Faculty must take attendance but cannot assign
punitive value - Students responsibility to drop a class

- Set the course tone by holding class the entire
time, starting with the first class day - Students deserve the full measure of class time
- Funding linked to contact hours
- Contact division chair if you have to miss class

- Must use and maintain a record of all student
grades in a grade book (electronic grade books
require an up-to-date hard copy) - Leave grade book with your division chair at the
end of the semester or academic year - Grade book must contain an explanation of grading
scale

- Follow guidelines for incompletes as defined in
Faculty Handbook - Each incomplete must have a contract associated
with it - Faculty have the responsibility of removing the
incomplete after the contract has been fulfilled - Never issue incomplete grades simply to meet
final grade due date!

- Follow the final exam schedule
- Must give a final exam in each course
- Final grades are entered into the BORIS system
- Deadline for turning in grades is critical
- Keep copies of each examination and student work
for one year
