What is Demonstration?
  • Also known as Instructional Models.
  • Demonstration is a step-by-step procedure that
    leads to specific learning outcomes.
  • Instructional models make great visuals for
    students.
  • Students can help create models for use in the
    classroom.

3
Why demonstration?
  • Instructional models that foster reasoning skills
provide students with opportunities to acquire
concepts and the skills involved in critical
    thinking and problem solving.
  • Students can work along with the teacher to reach
    conclusions to problem solving activities.

4
How is demonstration used?
  • Information, practice, and coaching are important
    in using the demonstration method.
  • Models need to be demonstrated and practiced
    regularly for mastery to occur.

5
Who designed demonstration?
  • Jerome Bruner believed that we should use
instructional models designed to teach concepts
to students and the corresponding thinking skills
    of categorizing concepts.
  • Richard Suchman believed in the use of
instructional models. Based on his work, inquiry
was designed, which has been discussed previously.
