Hawaii is mild in temperature. This kind of
weather is perfect for tropical fruits and
vegetables. Items such as cane sugar, pineapple,
coffee, and flowers/nursery products are very
popular.
3State Bird
Hawaiis official state bird is the Nene or also
known as the Hawaiian Goose.
4State Capitol Building
Hawaiis new state capitol building is located in
Honolulu. The buildings architectural structure
is a flat-topped, International Style pavilion.
This building is 100 feet tall and overlooks a
reflecting pool.
5State Dance
Hawaiis state dance is the Hula. The Hula is
performed by men and women of all ages. The hula
is a Polynesian dance which is characterized by
moving your hips, arms, and legs. This dance is
accompanied by rhythmic drum beats and chants.
6Entertainment
Hawaii has a lot to offer in the entertainment
category. You could go to a Luau in the evening
or go to the beaches and surf waves and snorkel
beneath the sea to swim with the fishes. If you
are up for some excitement you could take a
helicopter tour of volcanoes or just the islands
themselves. I dont think there is anything not
entertaining about Hawaii.
7State Fish
Hawaiis state fish is known as the
Humuhumunukunuku-a-puaa or the Rectangular
Triggerfish. Humuhma means to fit together.
This probably refers to the fishes vibrant colors
and how they fit together like pieces from a
puzzle. Nukunuki-u-puaa means snout like a
pig. When the fish is out of the water it makes
a snorting sound like that of a pigs.

Government in Hawaii is very similar to the
government but not exactly the same. -At the
Federal level of government, Hawaii has 4 seats
in the U.S Congress two Senators and two
Representatives -Local government is at county
level only

20State Seal
Hawaiis state seal features a picture of King
Kamehameha 1, royally dressed and holding his

LEGEND OF BLACK ROCK Long ago, a beautiful
young princess came to the island of maui in
search of the most powerful Kahuna. She was being
pursued by three evil suitors and was desperate
to flee. The Kahuna had taken pity on the young
princess and her parents and had turned them into
the West Maui Mountains. Two of the suitors were
transformed into a place called Napili. The most
evil suitor became Pu'u Keka'a or what is now
called, Black Rock. Standing only to gaze upon
her knowing she would never be his.
