What is
Marine Phytoplankton?
Phyto meaning Plant or Light Plankton meaning
floating or suspended The appearance of tiny
single cell microscopic organisms with the
ability to convert water, sunlight and nutrients
into protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and amino
acids began to grow. In turn, Marine
Phytoplankton became the first buoyant food
source on planet Earth.

• Marine Phytoplankton are the foundation of the
  Oceans Food chain. Without the existence of
  phytoplankton, the majority of marine life within
  the oceans would not survive.
• Scientists at NASA also theorize that
  phytoplankton are responsible for up to 90 of
  the oxygen in the Earths atmosphere.
• Phytoplankton are also responsible for the first
  soil that appeared on the Earths surface after
  the oceans flooded the rocky core, deposits of
  plankton composted forming the first soil, which
  in turn shaped the terrestrial foundation for all
  other plant life to flourish.

Phytoplankton have, and always will play a key
roll in our survival, although many people have
never known of their vital importance. How could
we, as human beings access these potent, life
enhancing microscopic plants?
