27Our school is located in a rural area, with many
small villages. In the villages we can find many
old objects that were used by our parents and
grandparents. We have organised an exhibi- tion
with some of them. Here is a picture of some of
them. We will comment on some examples.
On the left there is a cauldrum to cook food
over the fire. It is on a three legged base. The
chain is for hanging it.
28These are different lamps electrical lamps,
oil, kerosene, gas,... Many different things were
used to give light.
This lamp uses a candle to produce light
29On the right there are three restrelos,
similar to big combs to take the
irregular threads out of the linen, cultivated in
this area in the past.
These are scales. Its galician name is
romana. Maybe it is a Roman invention. It was
used to weight big objects or animals. The object
is hanged on one side and the weight on the
long stick, so that the romana is balanced.

31Here we play, sing songs, dance and have parties.
We have prepared two songs for you A Muiñeira
de Chantada A Xironda
32MUIÑEIRA DE CHANTADAS STORY The bagpiper of
Soutelos story
A hundred years ago, in the lovely village of
Soutelo de Montes, a boy was born. His name was
Avelino Cachafeiro. When he was a young boy he
used to run after the bagpipers thatcame to the
village. Later he became a famous bagpiper. The
girls loved him. Some people sang this song
Meniñas correde a oílo, meniñas correde a
velo, que é moita a gaita, gaitiña do Gaiteiro de
Soutelo
Girls, run to listen to him girls, run to see
him, because its great the bagpipes of the
bagpiper of Soutelo
33But one day he went to Chantada. There he met a
very pretty girl. She asked him to compose the
loveliest muiñeira for her. Then she would
marry him.
He tried to create a muiñeira, but it was
impossible. He invented many songs but not a
muiñeira. Desperate he rode his bike and went to
Chantada. On his way he met a farmer.
I cant stop walking from one place to another I
cant sing nor can I play the drums.
He explained him his problem and asked the
farmer to sing a muiñeira. The farmer said
singing with the rhythm of a muiñeira
Eu non paro de andar dun ladiño para outro. Eu
non sei cantar nin tampouco sei toca-lo bombo.
34Fantastic, this was a piece of a muiñeira. Oh
dear, it is too short. Then he met a
shoemaker. He explained him his trouble and the
shoemaker said, with the rhythm of a muiñeira
Esta muiñeira nova quen a truxo a esta terra o
zapateiro de Antas na punta dunha subela
This new song, who brought it to this land the
shoemaker of Antas on the peak of a subela
35Fabulous, I have got another piece of my song,
but, oh dearit is too short.
He was in a hurry so he rode his bike but he met
a seamstress . Sorry, I am late, I will talk to
you later
But the seamstress sang this song to him
All the seamstress are fond of chatting whoever
wants to speak to them do not be in great hurry.
Tódalas costureiriñas son amigas da conversa ó
que ha de falar con elas que non leve moita présa.
36At last, I have got a song, a beautiful
muiñeira He played the bagpipes for Josefa, the
pretty girl he loved. She liked the muiñeira
very much. So, they married and were happy for
ever after.
And this is the song he created
partitura

two buildings of the school
These children are going to play Persecución

57The players have to stand in a circle, looking at
the centre and chase the partner in front of
them, hopping in the same direction. They can
not stand on two feet nor go out of the circle
line.

of the field, and the partners in the middle.
They have to throw the ball so that they can
