Title: The Very Hungry Caterpillar
1The Very Hungry Caterpillar
by Eric Carle
2In the light of the moon a little egg lay on a
leaf.
3One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and
pop!- out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry
caterpillar.
4He started to look for some food.
5On Monday he ate through one apple.
But he was still hungry.
6On Tuesday he ate through two pears,
but he was still hungry.
7On Wednesday he ate through three plums,
but he was still hungry.
8On Thursday he ate through four strawberries.
but he was still hungry.
9On Friday he ate through five oranges.
but he was still hungry.
10On Saturday he ate through
one slice of salami,
one slice of watermelon.
one lollipop,
One piece of chocolate cake,
one slice of Swiss cheese,
one piece of cherry pie,
one cupcake and
one ice-cream cone,
That night he had a stomach ache.
one pickle,
one sausage,
11The next day was Sunday again.
The caterpillar ate through a nice green leaf,
and after that he felt much better.
12Now he wasnt hungry anymore and he wasnt a
little caterpillar anymore.
He was a big, fat caterpillar.
13He built a small house, called a cocoon, around
himself.
Then he nibbled a hole in a cocoon, pushed his
way out and
14he was a beautiful butterfly.
