3Determination of the problem
- The students do not know the tourist places in
the city of Valparaiso
- The students have a lack of vocabulary and
expressions about tourism.
- The students need to reinforce the oral and
written skills.
4Problem Foundation
Since Chile has opened its doors to the world,
through International Treatments and Valparaíso
has been declared Cultural Patrimony of the
Humanity,
it is necessary that the students know and value
the variety of tourist places in Chile,
especially in the city of Valparaiso
students have to develop the ability to show
their city using Oral and written English
5Objective Formulation
The eighth grade students of our primary schools
will be able to communicate the tourist
attractions of Valparaiso among them and the
community by means of an appropriate level of
written and oral English employing local tourist
vocabulary.
6Goals or wished results
- All the students will be able to increase the
vocabulary about tourism and vocabulary commands.
- Eighty percent of students will be able to give
directions using the map of the city.
- Ninety percent of students will be able to have
simple conversations about the tourist places of
the city with their classmates and tourists.
- All the students will be able to write a
descriptive paragraph about the places chosen by
the group.
- Each group will be able to create a web site in
www.educarchile.cl to show the results of their
research.
- Each group will be able to record a video in
relation to the investigated places.
- The course will be able to organize itself in
order to elaborate a tourist guide of Valparaiso
using the compiled information provided by each
group.

9Assignments and responsibilities distribution
The course will be divided into four groups
according to the topics that will be
investigated (monuments, hills, lifts and
events). A General coordinator will be elected
in each group
Each group will be subdivided in small teams of
work.
Every team will nominate a leader (this leader
cannot be the same General Coordinator) who has
the responsibility to assign a task to each
member
