  • Its Wednesday!
  • Turn in last weeks bellwork and get a new one.
  • I AM checking floppy folders TODAY!
  • Work on Wordy Wednesday
  • In the Monday and Tuesday boxes, write Labor Day
    Holiday
  • When done with todays bellwork, turn in your
    floppy folder into your classs box.

  • Group F Hand Out some graded work.
  • You need your notebooks/binders today
  • If I didnt check your floppy folder for any
    reason yesterday, I need to check it like now.
  • Work on Throwback Thursday

Lots of things to do so made a list
  • Discuss Unit 1 Test and Test Corrections
  • Move things out of floppy folder and place in
    notebook, behind the Unit 1 tab divider. Floppy
    folder should now be empty except for this weeks
    bellwork and our Arabic World Map.
  • Pass out NEW Unit 2 folder work. Place in floppy
    folder. Now your folder should have this weeks
    bellwork, Arabic World Map, Timeline, Important
    People
  • Discuss Essays
  • Create Unit 2 tab divider The Arabic World from
    400A.D.-1500 A.D.
  • Pass out Progress Reports

Test Corrections
  • Take test home and have parent sign the bubble
    sheet, near the top please this will be 5 points
  • Then, on separate sheet of paper
  • 1. Write the full question
  • 2.Write the full answer (not just the letter, the
    written answer, map questions, describe where it
    is on the map)
  • 3. Explain why that is the correct answer.
  • For each correction you do, you will get a point
    added to your test.
  • Corrections are due September 15th.

Essays
  • Pass out essays.
  • Pass out Record Sheets and place in the very
    front of your notebook/binder
  • Fill out Record Sheet according to the marks
    given on the rubric sheet.
  • Take essays home TONIGHT and have parents sign
    them, by your grade.
  • Bring back TOMORROW for 5 extra points on your
    essay.

Geography
  • Arabian Peninsula lies between the Red Sea and
    the Persian Gulf and is ¼ the size of the U.S.
  • Arid region-little rain, mostly deserts
  • Southern mountains and north of peninsula, small
    portion, used for agriculture

  • Read the question, think of answer. When
    prompted, discuss with your partner/group.
  • THEN, write the classes final answer in your
    notes.
  • NOW lets discuss the bellwork. How would people
    survive and thrive in a desert climate?

Nomadic Life
  • Bedouins were herders and nomads (move place to
    place) had to do this to live in the desert.
  • However, they dont wander, they follow water,
    specifically oasis.
  • They would trade with people who settled by an
    oasis.
  • Bedouins live in clans, sharing a common ancestor
    and ruled itself
  • Had good fighting skills to protect clan.

  • So trading was centered around the people who had
    settled around the oasis. So what do you think
    these areas are going to eventually become?
    Explain.
  • The Bedouins had good fighting skills. Think
    about the Islamic Empire maps you are doing. How
    are the fighting skills and the map connected?
    Explain.

Arabic Trade
  • The Arabian Peninsula was perfectly situated for
    trade.
  • By 600s, Arabs moving to the oases towns, which
    made them cities, and were centers for trade.
  • Sea and land routes connected Arabia to major
    trade centers in Asia, Africa, and Europe and got
    products from all three places.
