  • Moved to Kentucky following the war
  • Wilkinson came to New Orleans and swore
    allegiance to Miro Spain
  • He tried to get Kentucky to join the Spanish
  • This failed Kentucky became a state.

  • French speaking Catholic colonists who lived in
    the Canadian province of Acadia
  • England gained control of Acadia
  • The English Acadians did not get along
  • England worried about rebellion

    probably adjust well in Louisiana.

  • 1769 to 1785 almost 10,000 Acadians came to
    Louisiana

  • Another fire 3 hurricanes destroy New Orleans

  • Governor Carondelet rebuilt the city with Spanish
    architecture and brick had to be used for
    buildings over 1 story.
  • Most of the French Quarter is Spanish!!
