Senate to release report on Bush interrogation

  • Washington D.C. - The Senate Intelligence
Committee is expected to release its report about
the Bush-era CIA interrogation tactics and
detainees on Tuesday morning. The 50 million
investigation focuses on in the years following
the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The
long-delayed report on the use of torture -
"enhanced interrogation techniques" - by the U.S.
government is expected to be released Tuesday
morning. This won't be a full disclosure, but
rather the report's 480-page executive summary.
The complete report totals more than 6,000 pages.
Officials briefed on the report say it will
provide ugly new details on the CIA program,
including specifics on detainee deaths and a
portrayal of the program. The report will detail
20 findings, plus 20 case studies including the
hunt for Osama bin Laden. The Senate report was
conceived initially as a bipartisan review of the
CIA program. This investigation was intended to
    determine if President Bushs counter-terrorism
tactics actually produced intelligence to keep
    the nation safe.

  • Twice a year, Marcus Dodge assigns a worker to
don disposable coveralls and a respirator for a
trip to a downtown Fairbanks parking garage to
clean up deposits from a non-native species the
pigeon. Dodge, director of the Fairbanks Parking
Authority, estimates the worker picks up 150
gallons of pigeon dung annually and hauls it to
the hazardous materials area at the landfill. The
downtown pigeon population appears to be growing
and the droppings left by these birds are suspect
for creating structural damage around the city.
Pigeon droppings contain ammonia and uric acids
that eat away at metal and the sealant on the
parking garage concrete floor. These droppings
were cited as possible cause for speeding the
decay of a Minneapolis bridge across the
Mississippi River that collapsed in 2007 and
    killed 13 people.
  • You could say these cows were on the MOO-ve. Six
wayward dairy cows sauntered down the main drag
in Red Wing, Minnesota. It took three officers to
corral the black-and-white cows Wednesday night.
The owner called police when he noticed his
trailer gate was down and he was missing a few
Holstein after returning to his farm. He had
stopped in Red Wing and figured that's where they
got out. The chief says the officers herded the
cows into a parking enclosure. He says it's a
good thing they were dairy cows, because they're
    more cooperative than beef cattle.
