Title: OUTER TRACKER
1OUTER TRACKER LHC-b experiment in CERN (GENEVE)
Total experiment
Straw chamber module
Wire locator
Support frame in magnet
PROJECT DESCRIPTION At the high-energies of
LHC, both the b- and the b-hadrons are
predominantly produced in the same forward cone
LHCb has therefore been designed as a single-arm
forward spectrometer. The traching system of LHCb
is to provide efficient and accurate
reconstruction and precise momentum analysis of
charged tracks. The Outer Tracker consists of
four (XUVX) drift chambers, made out of straw
tubes with a diameter of 5 mm the drift time
will be about 35ns and the drift coordinate
resolution about 0.2 mm. The main design
challenge is posed by the need to minimize the
material budget (0.75 X0 per module) without
compromising the mechanical tolerances, which
should be better than the drift coordinate
resolution. COLLABORATING INSTITUTES Tsinghua
