Sweet Virginia
  • Home of the House of Burgesses, the first
    representative assembly in America. Voted to
    support Anglican Church.
  • Economic not religious colony
  • Anglican Church (Church of England) was colonial
    church. Colonists paid taxes that went to church.

Migration to Massachusetts
  • Pilgrims first at Plymouth.
  • Mayflower Compact gave every man an equal vote.
  • Puritan migration took over Plymouth, established
    Massachusetts Bay which becomes Boston.
  • Based society on Bible city upon a hill
  • Puritan Work Ethic if you work hard, you will
    be rewarded and be successfulwhether youre a
    servant, a fisherman, anythingyour success is
