What is a Wiki?

• Wiki is a piece of server software that allows
  users to freely create and edit Web page content
  using any Web browser
• -http//wiki.org/
• A web site where visitors and administrators can
  edit content easily.
• Administrators can revert changes if necessary.

Why does Cal Poly need a Wiki?

• Replace or augment several existing systems
• Easier for non-computer people vs. ordinary web
  editing
• Allows any user to contribute content
• Centralized area for Cal Poly content

• Wiki is maybe over-simple, but makes life easier
  for non-computer people
• Allowing anyone to edit page allows for more

• Heavy moderating will be necessary to prevent
  defacement/offensive postings
