Admissions Requirements
  • The CSU accepts the top third of all high school
graduates the equivalent of a B average.

eligible based on a combination of their grade
point average in college preparatory (A-G)
courses and the scores on the SAT or ACT
  • Transfer student applicants are identified as
eligible based on the completion of transferable
    units and general education courses.

with a grade of C or better

Freshman Admission
7
Eligibility Index
  • A student with a 3.0 GPA in A-G courses would be
eligible with any ACT or SAT score
  • You can calculate your eligibility index by
multiplying your grade point average by 800 and
adding your combined score on the SAT, using the
combined scores earned on the critical reading
    and math sections.
  • If you took the ACT, multiply your grade point
average by 200 and add ten times the ACT
    composite score.
  • If you are a California high school graduate (or
a resident of California for tuition purposes),
you need a minimum eligibility index of 2900
using the SAT combined score for critical reading
and math sections or 694 using the ACT.
  • Nonresidents of California are required to have a
minimum eligibility index of 3502 (SAT I) or 842
    (ACT).

8

Impaction
  • Impacted status for a campus occurs when a CSU
campus receives applications from more eligible
students than can be accommodated on the campus.
  • There are 6 of the 23 CSU campuses that have been
designated impacted for freshmen in 2009-2010.
  • Fullerton San Diego
  • Long Beach San Luis Obispo
  • Pomona Sonoma
  • Impacted campuses use criteria beyond minimum
    eligibility
  • Impacted majors are ones that receive
applications from more eligible students than can
be accommodated in the major. Campuses may admit
by major or initially admit the student as a
    pre-major on the campus
