Her Life

• Mother died. She was only 7 months old. She died
  from tuberculosis.
• Abandoned by her father
• Born in 1869 of march in St. Andrews East in
  Quebec. Died in September 2, 1940
• Grandma adopted her and her older sister legally.
  Last names then became Abbott.

• Home-schooled
• Went to private seminary for final high school
  year
• Got a scholarship to McGill University
• Went to Bishops College to study medicine
• Only woman in her class.

• Wrote a book called The Atlas Of The
  Congential Heart Disease
• Made congential heart disease her life time
  study
• Opened her own office in Montreal
• Studied functional heart murmurs
• Assistant curator at the medical museum in McGill
  University

• In 1936 she didnt want to retire but McGill
  insisted she did.

• People knew her as the beneficent tornado

• Was an honorary member of the male Osler society
• Did outstanding on her exams

  founded by Maude Abbott in 1906

Conclusion

• I chose Maude Abbott because she sounded very
  interesting, and I have heard about her also.
• I also chose her because she helped many blue
  babies and I think that is amazing.
• I learned that to never give up on your dreams
  because she never gave up and made her dream come
  true.
