Red Hatters
  • Judy Douglass started the Red Hat Society Club in
Lamar so she is known as the Queen Mother.
  • Janie Bush has brought it to Kiowa County.
  • What it is about
  • A result of a few women deciding to greet middle
age with verse, humor and elegance.
  • They believe silliness is the comedy relief of
    life.
  • They share a bond of affection for life's
    spontaneity.
  • There are no official rules, yet they have some
rather strong suggestions, such as one should
wear a red hat and clashing purple ensemble at
all meetings to keep the spirit and purpose of
the organization. Women under 50 should stick to
the pink hat and lavender attire until they turn
50, (this adds fun to aging.)

meeting room at the back of the bank.

WIFE

Economics. Its a national organization and we
have about 25 local members. They meet once a
month and write letters, fax, or e-mail, Congress
to help the farmers. Their greatest
accomplishment would be that they lobbied for
women farmers who were partners in work with
their husbands independently. This means that
they now get their own share of the government
    funds on the farm.

7
Quilting Clubs

Prairie Piecers Club in La Junta.
